Disney·BYJU'S Early Learn APP — Pointer (FTUE)
Fun fact — one of the reasons I zeroed in on Option 1-B was that it could double as a soft reference to Bob Cratchit, the character played by Mickey Mouse in Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983). Jiminy Cricket made some short but significant appearances in it as well; so it definitely lends itself to the theme of the world map.
After settling my mind on this design, I went onto make mock-up animations of how the pointer would fade-in for the FTUE (First-time User Experience). Below, are three of these explorations.

Well, at the end of the day, like most things I had to go back to the drawing board and come up with something a lot simpler and intuitive. This meant compromising on the in-world look and feel, and the Mickey reference. But I'm not one to throw in the towel — DO you see Mickey in the final design below?
This was drawn frame by frame and animated on Photoshop. The timing was fixed in AE.
The mockup shown below has been made with our previous version of the world map, which at the point of making these hadn't been phased out in favor of the redesigned one yet.
